Venue

The Seventh International Conference of the Hospital Infection Society will be held at the BT Convention Centre, Liverpool, England.

The BT Convention Centre is situated in the heart of Liverpool on the historic world heritage waterfront which allows easy access from both the airport and the train station. The BT Convention Centre is a new, state of the art venue which opened its doors in April 2008 and has grown in reputation since then. Certificate of Attendance

An official Certificate of Attendance will be provided for all registered delegates who attend the congress.

CPD/CME

CPD credits will be available from the Royal College of Pathologists. CME credit will be available from the European Board of Accreditation in Clinical Microbiology.

Conference Materials

You will receive your conference documentation when you arrive at the Conference which will contain all relevant materials.

Credit Cards and Currency

Major credit cards are widely accepted in the UK, namely VISA, Mastercard and AMEX. The currency in the UK is pounds sterling, common bank notes in circulation are £5.00, £10.00 and £20.00 and coins in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 pence along with £1.00 and £2.00.

Health

Citizens of EU countries are covered for emergency medical treatment in the UK on presentation of a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), previously known as the E111 Form. This covers treatment in an NHS hospital or clinic but not a private hospital or clinic. Please note that the EHIC is not a substitute for comprehensive travel insurance.

Insurance

The registration fees do not include the insurance of participants against personal accidents, sickness, cancellation by any party, theft, loss or damage to personal possessions. Participants are advised to take out adequate personal insurance to cover travel, accommodation, cancellation and personal effects.

Joining Instructions

Joining instructions will be emailed to you approximately 4 weeks prior to the Conference. This document will contain relevant information to assist you with your trip to the Conference and Liverpool, for instance the climate for that time of year, how to get from the airport to the conference centre, a full list of hotels with contact details, banking hours, shopping hours etc. As joining instructions are emailed to all delegates it is important that you provide an email address for this purpose.

Language

The language of the Conference is English.

Letters of Invitation

Delegates requiring a letter of invitation to attend the conference should write to the Conference Organisers. Please note that a letter of invitation will be provided to assist delegates in obtaining a visa or permission to attend the Conference and should not be considered as an official invitation covering fees and other expenses.

Passports & Visas

A valid passport is required for entry into the United Kingdom. Please contact the British Consulate nearest to you for specific details and visa requirements.
